Tree climbing, like other sports, requires training. You will have to learn a number of different skills in order to get onto the next level.

Qualified trainees upon passing the test are allowed to help out in future events of SITC, where they will be paid an allowance dependent on their qualifications. If it's something that you would like to do, join us.

2007- 2008 PROMOTION

Participants can take a package and pay only $188 which includes
Beginner + intermediate one class + test + tree climbing T-shirt + log sheets

Basic Course : Getting High

You start by learning the basic tree climbing safety, practices and ethics. Climbing requires skill, patience and most importantly, courage to overcome your fear of heights. It's important to figure out how the system can work best for your physique.

Climbing fee is either paid before or on a scheduled event. Please contact us if you wish to have private group basic climbs.

Intermediate 1 : Get Knotty

You have already tried the introductory climb and now want to climb with an instructor to explore the canopy. Bring your adventurous spirit and courage to new heights, and you'll learn hazard detection, tree selection, throwing techniques, rope placement, knot tying and use and care of equipment.

You will be entitled to be a yellow facilitator after you have passed a test, and awarded a tree-climbers status card.

Cost:	S$78 for student, $98 for adult (Course structure differs for student & adult)
Time investment:	4 to 5 hours
Test fee:	S$60 (for facilitation certification)

Intermediate 2 : Swinging Around

You must have passed the intermediate level 1 and now keen to swing from branch to branch like monkeys do. In this course, you will learn branch traversing, pitching to a higher branch, and setting up of a tree hammock. A green facilitator status will be conferred to you upon passing a solo climb and traverse using DREC (double rope end climbing).

Time investment:	10 hours in 2 sessions
Test fee:	S$80

Advance Intensive Course

You have done basic climbs a few times and feel easy on high grounds. You will be required to recap traversing, learn rope placements on very high branches using different techniques, climbing using SRT (Single Rope Technique) and simple rappelling. You will also be taught tree hazard detection. The exam consists of a solo climb with SRT, traversing and a written test.

You will be trained to tie knots instinctively and all skills from intermediate 1 & 2 levels. You will also be taught rescue work and event management as an instructor during big tree climbing events.

Cost:	S$390
Time investment:	2 to 3 days (4.5 hour sessions each)
Test fee:	S$100

a)	SITC reserves the right to cancel classes, push back the time or postpone the date of commencement of any classes or events that do not meet the minimum requirement number of participants or safe weather conditions for climbing.

d)	All payments made are non-refundable and non-transferable. Only under special circumstances will we consider a partial refund.
e)	Absenteeism on the day of examination will not be entertained.
f)	Please ensure that you are medically fit for the course.

In cases of illnesses and bad weather, SITC will ensure that you get your course done on another day.
